In Rincón, sunset is not the finale. It is the main event.
A deliberately unhurried day built around coffee, salt water, local flavor, Punta Higüero Lighthouse, and the west coast’s daily sky show.

Rincón is nicknamed the town of beautiful sunsets, but the phrase undersells what happens: strangers pause, surfers turn toward shore, and the horizon briefly becomes public property.
8:00 a.m. — earn nothing
Begin with coffee and a slow breakfast. You do not need to “earn” relaxation with a punishing itinerary. Walk through town or take a gentle beach stroll while the light is soft.
10:00 a.m. — choose water by mood and conditions
If the ocean is calm and your group is prepared, swim or join a guided water activity. If swell is running, watch surfers at María’s or Domes. Spectating is not a consolation prize in a town where the best riders make physics look negotiable.
1:00 p.m. — lunch should take as long as it takes
Find fresh seafood, mofongo, a bakery, or a food truck that smells like the correct decision. Ask what is good today. Drink water. Move into shade. Refuse to optimize lunch.
3:30 p.m. — reset
Return to your room, rinse off, and rest. Golden hour is better when nobody is sunburned, dehydrated, or silently furious about parking.
5:00 p.m. — choose the stage
Punta Higüero Lighthouse
An elevated park with broad water views and easy pairing with Domes Beach.
María’s Beach
Watch the final surf sessions cross through warm evening light.
Western beaches
Choose a safe, accessible shoreline with a clean horizon and simple exit.
Your terrace
Sometimes the best viewpoint is the one with no parking and your own cold drink.
How to photograph it without missing it
Clean the phone lens. Lower exposure slightly to preserve sky color. Include a person, palm, board, or shoreline for scale. Take a few frames, then put the device down.
Stay after the sun disappears. Clouds often hold color for another fifteen or twenty minutes, and the cooler air changes the whole mood.
Pack out cups, food, and decorations. Avoid dunes and vegetation, respect private property, and use only legal parking.
Afterglow
Let dinner follow naturally. Choose somewhere casual, listen for live music, or take food back to the room. The day does not need a dramatic ending. The sky already handled that.
